Skin Biopsy

Skin Biopsy

A skin biopsy is a simple yet crucial diagnostic procedure used to evaluate abnormal skin growths, persistent rashes, pigment changes, or suspected skin cancers. At Ranchi Advance Skin Center, we perform skin biopsies using safe, sterile, and minimally invasive techniques, ensuring both diagnostic accuracy and patient comfort.

Why is a Skin Biopsy Done?
A skin biopsy helps diagnose:

  • Chronic rashes and inflammatory skin diseases

  • Suspicious moles or lesions (possible skin cancer)

  • Pigmentation disorders

  • Autoimmune conditions like lupus or psoriasis

  • Infections that don’t respond to treatment

Types of Skin Biopsy We Perform:

  • Punch Biopsy – Removes a small circular section of skin, including deeper layers.

  • Shave Biopsy – Used for raised lesions; removes the top layer of skin.

  • Excisional Biopsy – Entire lesion is removed for complete analysis.

  • Incisional Biopsy – A part of the lesion is removed when full removal isn’t feasible initially.

What to Expect During the Procedure:
The procedure is performed under local anesthesia and takes just a few minutes. You may feel a slight pinch during the injection, but the biopsy itself is painless. A small dressing is applied post-procedure, and basic wound care instructions are provided.

After the Biopsy:
The tissue sample is sent to a laboratory for histopathological examination. Results typically take 5–7 days. Based on the findings, Dr. Pradeep Kumar will guide you on the next steps of treatment.
